New Executive Director – Nilda Borrino

ANHBC would like to welcome Nilda Borrino to the role of Executive Director at Marpole Neighbourhood House for a one year term, starting on Monday, January 17! Nilda comes to us from Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House where she was the Director of Family Resource Programs and successfully supported diverse staff teams in delivering a variety of place-based programs and services. Nilda has been at ANHBC for 30 years, and has worked at both Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House and Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House while also teaching early childhood education at Vancouver Career College. While doing all of that, she recently completed a Masters of Leadership program and Royal Roads University, convocating late last year!

Nilda’s colleagues describe her as driven to create opportunities to support growth, build a sense of belonging and remove barriers to more equitable environments for all. Her love for the early years has spurred a commitment to advocate for quality, affordable and accessible childcare and developing wrap-around supports for all families regardless of their circumstances. In addition, Nilda is passionate about operationalizing the calls to action put forth by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and ensuring that there is continuous work toward anti-racism internally and in our work with community. Her overarching goal is to harness the gifts, talents and wisdom of those around her, to build collective capacity and co-create a collaborative approach to building a healthy, resilient community.

Congratulations Nilda, welcome to Marpole and have a great first day!
